ODOT mailed out informational flyers to homes and post office boxes over the last two months regarding the Little Humbug Creek Bridge replacement that begins this month. If you didn’t receive or notice the flyer, here are the very important details for you to remember when traveling over 26.
CLICK HERE for a direct link to the project webpage – Please be advised updates would likely be made to TripCheck in real time before the project page (below) would be updated. As of May 3rd, TripCheck identified work with restrictions running from May 13th-17th and May 20th-24th.
Again, TripCheck is where to find updates on restrictions, full closure, and date changes. After May work is completed, the work is scheduled to pick back up in September. ODOT has linked TripCheck on it’s project page. (below)
U.S. 26 Little Humbug Creek Bridge
Construction Phase
Region 2: Willamette Valley and Northwest Oregon (Clatsop)
We’re replacing this bridge that is in poor condition.
IMPACTS
Traffic Impact
Single lane closures with flaggers helping direct traffic as needed.
Construction Impacts
You can expect:
- Noise, delays and lane closures with flaggers as needed.
- Most impactful periods of work will require:
- A 24-hour lane closure estimated for 10 days in May.
- A 24-hour lane closure estimated for 24 days in September.
- Flaggers will help direct traffic through the single lane during the closures.
- The single lane will only be 14-feet wide. We’ll use concrete barrier to help define the single lane. Vehicles needing more than 14-feet will need to use an alternate route.
Our schedule may change – visit TripCheck.com for the most up to date information on impacts.
Construction Activities
None at this time.
We plan to build half the bridge at a time – the eastbound lane and the westbound lane.
Visit TripCheck for the most current traffic information.
Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around work zones.
Pay attention in the work zone, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work!
Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.
